Another Step to Digging and a Photo in Frederick Paper

ImageTwo very positive events!

  • The photo shown here was printed in the Frederick News-Post on July 17 with the headline “Clean Water Project in Kenya.” I’m shown with Maida Wright, who invited me to speak. Maida is holding one of the necklaces the women of the village made for me when we were made honorary members of the Liaram family. I am wearing the other one, along with the shuka and cape they gave me, gifts which they also gave daughter Hope, granddaughter Jen, and husband Carl.  Part of the Frederick News-Post article read:

Bowman-Kruhm shared slides of the Maasai people, who have to walk five miles to retrieve fresh water for their village. Funds are being raised for the digging of three deep wells to supply enough water for the village.

The article is very short and you can read it here.

  • Steve King sent an e-mail that said, “As of today all of the cash contributions from the Rotary Clubs of Leonardtown, Lexington Park, and Prince Frederick have been mailed to TRF accompanied by the required contribution forms.” He added that he will check next week to assure that The Rotary Foundation has received the contributions and officially logged them into their books.  Tim Winter replied that Fredericktowne Rotary’s contribution and the check from our Unitarian Universalist Church of Frederick had also been sent. Jackson immediately replied:

Dear All,

Thanks everyone for the fabulous work.
Jackson Liaram,

Village of Oltorotua,  Kenya.

Hey, what’s the weather like in the Mara?  Can digging soon happen? As soon as we get bids from well drillers, that is. Getting water for Oltorotua is at last moving forward!
