Thursday was an exciting day. Steve King, newly returned from Kenya, arrived about 3 p.m. to show Carl and me photos and videos he took at Oltorotua. In the videos Jackson translated back and forth. Steve feels very confident, even though it’s about 150 miles — a sometimes bumpy, 5 hour trip — between Nakuru [...] The four Rotary clubs of Frederick, MD, are sponsoring a 3rd Annual World Peace & Understanding Day on February 23, 5-7 p.m. at the Weinberg Center, 20 W. Since the grant proposal must use the new online “Future Vision” application, the forms and process are new and complex — no quick and easy job. Then Steve and two Rotary colleagues are off to Oltorotua for a week in [...] Jambo! This Swahili word is the cheery hello said a million times daily by happy Kenyans. Today I have a special reason for wishing you a great day — my own day has had a fantastic start! I awoke to a short e-mail forwarded by water guru and grant proposal writer Steve King from the [...] On Tuesday evening, Steve King, who wrote the grant proposal, and I spoke at a local Rotary meeting. They are seriously considering a club donation to the well and sanitation project. As Steve spoke, I noticed the group seemed very interested. It was a thrill to actually get started fund-raising and we anxiously await hearing [...] I’m pleased to report that Steve King of the Leonardtown, MD, Rotary Club has submitted a Future Vision Global Grant Proposal to the Rotary District 7620 Grant Committee for approval.
