I received this e-mail from Jackson this morning:

Hi,

The 17th of February has been a day long waited by the Villagers of Oltorotua to meet Steve King and other other Rotarians from the US and Nakuru, Kenya.

I met Mr King and his group at Narok and led them to Oltorotua viillage arriving around noon. Men and women elders were waiting under a tree.

Villagers smiled as they welcomed the Rotarians. I started by introducing the Rotarians to the villagers, then followed by speeches from the Rotarians and the villagers about the water project.  Steve King probably made the longest speech.

The villagers butchered a goat for lunch served with soft drinks.

It was the day that the villagers has been waiting for; hence overwhelmed by happiness hearing speeches from Steve and other rotarians. The name MARY BOWMAN- KRUHM was mentioned a lot being the first person to think of initiating a water project in Oltorotua. Steve said, ” Without Mary’s thought to initiate a water project in this village, we couldn’t have managed to come this far” and also seeking for funds for the water survey from their church.

Everyone congratulated Mary Kruhm for her support towards initiating the project.

I will send you photos during the meeting, and possibly you can get more from Steve.

Thanks for the bag and Visa letter , got them from Steve. I also got a present (cap and pen) from the Rotarians. Thank you Steve and his group.

Jackson is a true diplomat.  We could use him in Congress!  Despite Jackson’s putting my name in caps, Steve, with his knowledge of water systems and management, has done most of the work. For which we are very, very grateful to him and Rotary.
