Wells for Oltorotua!

Today’s post is the latest news from Tim Winter, as he takes over leadership of the Oltorotua project. His e-mail said:

Thanks to Steve King’s great leadership, we are ready to submit our Global Grant application for the Oltorotua Clean Water Project.

and he concluded with:

We are really looking forward to beginning work soon!

Yes, the grant must move thru the Rotary International process but we have:

  • positive results from a hydrogeological study (thanks, Dan Odero),
  • a Kenyan Rotary Club that will provide oversight (thanks, Nakuru-Great Rift Valley Rotary),
  • a water management team to provide sustainability,
  • involvement by women, for whom clean, accessible water matters, and
  • support from the Oltorotua elders and warriors, who will provide some of the labor to keep expenses down.

And, of course, ongoing support and help Jackson Liaram, who has kept my spirits up with his positive view that the wells will happen!  This is a solid grant and I look forward to hearing from RI.
